Australian arrested for allegedly organising sex boat tour in Pattaya

An Australian man has been arrested for allegedly organising a sex boat tour in Pattaya.

A team of police officers from the Transnational Crime Coordination Centre arrested Stephen Alan Carpenter, 49, at 6.30pm on Monday in Moo 5 village in Tambon Nong Yang sua in Saraburi’s Muak Lek district.

Police said Carpenter was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Pattaya provincial court on Saturday on charges of soliciting women for prostitution, soliciting clients for prostitutes and violating the computer crime act by posting pornographic photos on Facebook.

Police allege that Carpenter posted a nude photo of a Thai woman with a foreign man on a Face Book account named Richard Brown on December 6.

On December 31, Carpenter allegedly advertised his sex boat tour service on Facebook under the name of ASUSTHAI Tours, encouraging clients to ride a luxury boat to use the services of prostitutes.

Undercover police contacted Carpenter to buy the sex boat tour service for Bt38,000 by contacting him via the LINE application.

The suspect asked undercover police to pay 50 per cent of the price and they paid him Bt19,000 at 11am on June 14. Police then obtained an arrest warrant against him.

Police said Carpenter also faced a charge of overstaying his visa and doing a tour guide job, which is prohibited to foreigners.
