Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai has directed officials to collaborate with investigators following reports from residents about the theft of 60 meters of electrical cable from behind the Pattaya Indoor Sports Stadium on December 25. The stolen cable, estimated to be worth 27,000 baht, was taken without authorization by two male suspects.
Acting on the tip-off, officers from Huay Yai Police Station’s investigative unit launched an investigation at the site and successfully apprehended the suspects. Legal proceedings are now underway.
The incident has sparked frustration among locals, with one resident expressing, “The punishment should be severe. These thieves are stealing public property. Others are illegally cutting power lines and grounding wires from transformers, then burning them in remote areas near the Pattaya court. This happens multiple times a day. Despite reporting this to the police, they claim there’s nothing they can do. It’s disheartening. The police seem uninterested, and we’re left inhaling toxic smoke daily around Soi Pattaya Park. Perhaps the Mayor of Pattaya should intervene.”
Another resident commented, “Can we see the thieves’ faces? Our office has been robbed five times, and we’re actively pursuing the criminals.”
These remarks underscore growing concerns about increasing theft and vandalism in the area, with residents urging stronger action and better support from local authorities
