Another Escalator victim comes forward

A tiny child experienced an escalator accident when his foot got hooked underneath ten days before to the incident at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport where a woman lost part of her leg. Fortunately, the child made a full recovery after receiving 11 stitches.

A Thai woman lost her leg yesterday at Don Mueang Airport after tumbling on the escalator. The doctor told her and the media that the victim’s limb could be reattached. Even with this positive conclusion, the woman is still in shock. She reportedly started crying when she noticed how widely her news was shared online.

In the wake of the woman’s tragic fall, a number of Thai internet users and news outlets highlighted earlier incidents of similar mishaps to alert the public to the dangers associated with escalators.Following the woman’s account, a Thai man’s Facebook post about being killed by an escalator in 2019 went viral in Thailand once more. In his article, the man explained how his shoe became entangled underneath the escalator.

He made the rapid decision to shield himself from injury by removing his shoe. The airport, he continued, provided no more support beyond a text message apology.Thai news outlets also reported on the event at Don Mueang where a young boy’s sneaker got stuck underneath the escalator.

The mother of the youngster uploaded a video of the incident on her TikTok account on June 22. The video shows the boy’s right foot become hooked on the right side of the escalator.

The mother claimed that her son was saved but sustained a serious foot injury. The boy was safeguarded, the doctor assured the boy’s family, by the heavy Crocs he was donning. If he had been wearing flip-flops, he could have injured his toes.On the other hand, a number of Thai TikTok users speculated that Crocs might have contributed to the accident in some way. One internet user suggested the prohibition on this kind of footwear by the Hong Kong rail service as a means to prevent such accidents.

The boy’s mother said that her son has since fully healed after receiving 11 stitches. He is able to move and run just like he could before the disaster.
