Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems Has Seventh Largest Number Of F-Words In A Movie Ever

Uncut Gems

Adam Sandler’s new film Uncut Gems has not only received critical acclaim since its release at the end of last year, it’s also been honoured with another accolade – having been added to a list of films that boast the largest number of F-words.

Screen It!, a movie review website for parents, recently updated its ‘list of films that most frequently use the word f***’, now accommodating Uncut Gems in at seventh place with a total of 408.

If you do the maths, that’s the equivalent of three a minute.

The new film sits just behind Martin Scorsese’s 1990 classic Casino, which has 422 F-bombs, having nudged out Straight Outta Compton, which boasts a measly 392.

Eddie Murphy’s 2019 offering Dolemite Is My Name also made the cut for this year’s updated list, landing in at 95 out of the top 141.

But none of those were enough to beat the top dogs, Gary Oldman drama Nil by Mouth (428), Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam (435), Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street (569), a documentary about the f-word called F**k (857), and the ultimate winner, Swearnet – which was previously crowned champion with a whopping 935 F-words.

The full roundup also has its very own dedicated Wikipedia page, which you can peruse here.

Adam Sandler’s sweary new movie was released last month in the US, and will hit UK cinemas on 10 January.

Directed by Benny and Josh Safdie, the film premiered at the end of August at the Telluride Film Festival. It sees a welcome change of direction for the comedy actor, who steps into the shoes of charismatic jeweller Howard Ratner.

The synopsis listed on Rotten Tomatoes reads: “From acclaimed filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie comes an electrifying crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweller always on the lookout for the next big score.

“When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.”

Uncut Gems was released in the US on 25 December and will hit UK cinemas on 10 January. It will be available to stream on Netflix from 31 January.
