Actress ‘Due’ Arisara Accused of B62 Million Embezzlement, Necklace Scandal Draws Political Attention

Actress ‘Due’ Arisara Accused of B62 Million Embezzlement, Necklace Scandal Draws Political Attention

Thai actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut is under investigation following an embezzlement complaint filed by billionaire entrepreneur Wasana Intasang, the CEO of Revomed Co., a health and beauty products company.

On Thursday, Wasana’s lawyer provided additional evidence to the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), supporting claims that Arisara borrowed and pledged luxury bags and accessories worth a total of 62 million baht.

The case has garnered significant public attention, particularly due to a 26-million-baht emerald and diamond necklace allegedly linked to a cabinet minister.

Police Investigation Underway

Pol Col Anek Taosuparp, deputy commander of the CSD, stated that investigators are still gathering evidence and questioning witnesses before summoning Arisara. If charged with embezzlement, she could face up to three years in prison, though a settlement remains possible if the assets are returned and the complaint is withdrawn.

The actress is currently abroad and has not returned to Thailand since legal proceedings began. Her lawyer, Nitisak Meekuat, insists she is not attempting to evade justice.

Who Had the Necklace?

The most sensational aspect of the case revolves around a 26-million-baht necklace from Lotus Arts de Vivre. During a phone-in interview on a TV show, Arisara claimed that the necklace was now in the possession of a cabinet minister whose name begins with the Thai letter “Por Pan.”

This sparked a wave of denials from key government figures, including Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira, Labour Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan, and Education Minister Pol Gen Permpoon Chidchob.

However, during a later episode of the Hon Krasae talk show, host Kanchai Kamnerdploy announced that the necklace had been returned to Wasana. According to her lawyer, an individual named “Toon” had purchased the necklace from Arisara for 8 million baht before facilitating its return.

Legal Implications

Pol Col Anek emphasized that if a third party knowingly possessed stolen goods and refused to return them, they could face prosecution. Wasana’s lawyer maintained that the case remains strictly an embezzlement matter and could be resolved if all borrowed items are returned.

This is not the first time Arisara has made headlines. In 2023, she accused her ex-boyfriend of running an illegal gambling network and physically abusing her, prompting her to flee to Taiwan.
