Pattaya City Police were alerted to a theft near Pattaya City School 8 (Pattaya Nukul), close to Walking Street in South Pattaya.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 65-year-old Swedish tourist, heavily intoxicated, who claimed he had been robbed of 2,000 baht in cash and a gold-plated ring worth over 40,000 baht by a male suspect, who was described as resembling a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The victim explained that he had been resting on the roadside while drunk, waiting for transport back to his accommodation, when the suspect approached him. Posing as a helpful person, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the tourist’s impaired state to steal his belongings before fleeing the scene.
A local motorcycle taxi driver, identified as Winai, 50, provided valuable information. He explained that the Swedish tourist appeared visibly intoxicated and had stopped to rest nearby. The suspect, known to frequent the area, approached the tourist and pretended to offer assistance. Sensing something was wrong, Winai attempted to intervene, warning the suspect to leave the tourist alone. However, by the time Winai acted, the theft had already occurred, and the suspect had fled.
Authorities have documented the scene and gathered statements from witnesses. They are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to gather more leads in order to bring the perpetrator to justice.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
