A man was tragically killed early Saturday morning, when a train struck him as he lay on the railway tracks in Pattaya.
The incident took place on the tracks in Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Emergency responders and police from Banglamung Police Station were alerted at 2:46 AM and quickly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the body of an unidentified man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, lying lifeless on the railway tracks. A train, designated as 607 and traveling from Map Ta Phut to Phawai Lopburi, was found stopped about 100 meters away from the body. The train driver, whose name has been withheld, was present and waiting to give a statement to the police.
According to the driver, he had been operating the train normally when he noticed the man lying on the tracks. He sounded the horn in an attempt to alert the man, but there was no response. Unable to stop the train in time, the driver struck the man. After the incident, the driver immediately contacted the authorities.
The body was transported to Banglamung Hospital for identification and safekeeping until the victim’s family or relatives can arrange religious rites.
