Manchester United has reached an agreement to sign Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee. The transfer fee is understood to be just over £35 million (€42.5 million), exceeding his £33.6 million (€40 million) release clause. This higher fee comes in exchange for more favorable payment terms, allowing United to pay over three years instead of a lump sum upfront. Personal terms have been agreed upon, and Zirkzee is expected to undergo a medical examination at Manchester United this week.
The 23-year-old forward, who has been representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024, will sign a five-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Zirkzee’s move to Manchester United follows an impressive season with Bologna, where he recorded 12 goals and seven assists, helping the team qualify for the Champions League.
Why is Zirkzee in Demand?

The forward graduated from Bayern Munich’s system and had spells with Parma and Anderlecht before joining Bologna in the summer of 2022. Despite limited game time in his first Serie A campaign, scoring only two league goals in 808 minutes, Zirkzee bounced back this term with 11 league goals.
