A British man found himself in police custody after being apprehended while soliciting in front of a convenience store situated in the renowned tourist hotspot of Koh Phangan.
Pol Lt Col Winit Boonchit, an inspector with the tourist police, directed authorities on the southern island to apprehend Nicholas Hartas, aged 47, outside a 7-Eleven store located in Pantip Market on Wednesday evening.
Hartas was wanted pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Koh Samui Provincial Court on April 10, 2024, on charges of methamphetamine possession and overstaying his visa.
At the time of his arrest, the Briton was seated in front of the store, clad only in a pair of black shorts, and holding a piece of paper with a plea: “If you CAN. PLEASE! MONEY For Food.”
Subsequently, he was escorted to the Koh Phangan police station to undergo legal proceedings.
