Road rage fight passing biker is killed by a gunshot

An angry pickup driver in Muang district on Monday night fired a “threatening shot” at the driver of a six-wheel vehicle, killing a motorcyclist who was passing by.

Around 7 p.m. on Bang Phli-Tamru Road in tambon Bang Poo Mai, motorcyclist Supakorn Chankhati, 24, was shot in the right side of his head while taking his fiancée to the hospital.

He was taken by rescue personnel to a neighbouring hospital, where he passed away from his wound.

The head of Bang Poo police, Pol Col Pisut Chansuwan, stated that at 9.30 p.m. on Monday, Burapa Jiamyu, 26, was taken into custody at a housing estate on Soi Mangkorn Road thanks to surveillance footage. It is said that the man acknowledged the shooting.

Mr. Burapa said that the acts of a six-wheel truck driver on Bang Phli-Tamru Road had enraged him while he was operating a modified pickup truck used for ice deliveries. They got into a fight at a petrol station. When Mr. Burapa pulled out a revolver, the truck driver, who had been wielding a steel bar, pulled back and drove away.

The pickup driver acknowledged to the police that he had then passed the six-wheeler, halted in front of it, and fired a shot.

Although Mr Burapa claimed he simply meant to fire a menacing shot, the bullet struck a passing motorbike rider. He had dropped the gun after the shooting, having earlier stolen it from an adolescent neighbour.

Sudarat Singruang, the victim’s distraught 23-year-old girlfriend, reported that Supakorn was riding his motorbike to the hospital because she was experiencing a stomachache. A gunshot was heard, and Supakorn suddenly fell in front of her. Luckily, she managed to get around him, steer the motorbike, and bring it to a stop.

She was unaware of any rationale behind his shooting. They weren’t at odds with anyone. She added that she had seen the alleged gunman there.
