The authorities in Ubon Ratchathani province successfully intercepted an endeavor to illicitly transport four vehicles across the Mekong River into Laos.
A cohort of individuals believed to be engaged in smuggling activities purportedly attempted to transport a pickup truck onto an improvised ferryboat at approximately 1:30 am on Saturday, at which point law enforcement personnel emerged from their concealed position.
A pickup truck and two agricultural trucks were discovered in close proximity.
Upon detecting the presence of law enforcement personnel, the suspects promptly resorted to either immersing themselves in the nearby river or eluding capture by vanishing into the obscurity of the surrounding darkness.
A collaborative group of soldiers, paramilitary troopers, border police, and defense volunteers carried out the raid in the Khemarat district of the Northeast province.
The officers discovered that the improvised ferryboat had been constructed by interconnecting four boats using wooden boards.
Upon examination of the registration documents, it was determined that one of the pickup trucks was registered under the ownership of a female individual residing in Bueang Kan province, while the other pickup truck was registered under the ownership of a female individual residing in Sakon Nakhon. Both provinces are located in the northeastern region.
The trucks and boats were seized and subsequently transported to the Khemarat Police Station for subsequent legal proceedings.
