Seventy per cent of the population in 11 provinces will be vaccinated by August, as per the target set by the National Communicable Diseases Committee
Dr Opas Karnkawinpong director-general at the Department of Disease Control, as a member and secretary of the National Communicable Diseases Committee, on May 17 issued guidelines to provincial governors on Covid-19 vaccination.
The document states that the first dose of AstraZeneca will be allocated from June – September. The government has set a target to vaccinate
47 million people nationwide, equivalent to 70 per cent of the national population.
Since March, over 2 million people have been given the first dose of the vaccine.
In some provinces, the government aims to vaccinate 70 per cent of the population within August.
One province that aims to hit the target in June is Phuket, three provinces — Bangkok, Krabi and Phang Nga — aim to achieve the target in July, and seven provinces — Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Chonburi, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Surat Thani — will reach the target in August.
The vaccination plan for each province:
Phuket: Population of 547,584 people; vaccination target 383,309; 81,569 people await first dose; vaccination expected to be completed in June.
Bangkok: Population of 7,699,174; vaccination target 5,389,422; awaiting inoculation 5,019,791; vaccination target for June 2,510,000 and for July 2,510,000.
Krabi: Population of 503,537; vaccination target 352,476 people; still to be vaccinated 332,696; vaccination target for June 67,000 people and for July 266,000.
Phang Nga: Population of 286,338; vaccination target 200,437 people; population yet to be vaccinated 186,017; vaccination target for June 19,000 people and for July 167,000.
Pathum Thani: Population of 1,533,781; vaccination target 1,073,646 people; still to be inoculated 1,039,706 people; vaccination target for June 62,000 people, in July 624,000, and in August 354,000.
Nonthaburi: Population of 1,609,191 people; vaccination target 1,126,434 people; still to be inoculated 1,074,229 people; vaccination target for June 64,000 people, in July 2,510,000, and in August 365,000.
