The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration has reported on the 4 groups of foreigners allowed into Thailand. Taweesilp Visanuyothin the Centre spokesman reported on 20 July 2020 on foreigners that are allowed to enter the country.

This includes

1. Foreigners coming in to present new products in Thailand. This will help promote Thailand’s economy with a limited amount of people allowed into Thailand for a specific period of time.

2. Foreign film crews that plan to film in Thailand, there will be a limit to the number of people allowed in the crew, the exact locations they will go to, and an established plan for each crew.

3. Workers from 3 countries to help supply the demand for workers in the food and construction industry, this is to help support Thailand’s economy.

Last but not least, 4. Foreigners coming into the country for Medical and Wellness, this group of people can continue to stay in the country after completing the 14 day quarantine period. The medical and wellness field will help bring money into the country. The main measure to help control the spread of Covid-19 for these groups of people is to stay in the state quarantine requirement over a period of 14 days.

There are still Thais stuck abroad waiting to return home. The spokesman revealed that Thailand is trying to make it possible for more Thais to return home.

The number was previously set at 200 Thais returning to the country per day and the number is now increased to up to 600 persons. Those who wish to return faster than others waiting in line might have to pay for their own quarantine period.

There is also an issue to how those residing in condos do not want foreigners to come to stay in their condos. The spokesman revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made agreements with embassies to place their people in state quarantine, not condominiums.

Those traveling into the country must complete the 14-day quarantine in a state quarantine center before they are able to travel inside the country. This is to make sure that Covid-19 can be stopped before it spreads to any person in Thailand.
