28 Tourists Rescued from Leaking Speedboat Off Krabi Mainland

Krabi, Thailand – A group of 28 tourists was rescued from a leaking speedboat while traveling from Koh Lipe to Phuket, authorities confirmed.

The Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park dispatched a park patrol boat and the Nanthicha 333 speedboat to assist the stranded passengers on Monday. The rescue took place near Koh Poda Nok, off the coast of Krabi province.

According to officials, the tourists were aboard the Siriwan Marine 5 speedboat, which developed a leak at the bottom due to the impact of rough waves. The skipper attempted to steer toward Koh Phi Phi, but as water continued seeping into the vessel, he was unable to reach safety.

Rescue teams successfully evacuated all 28 passengers and transported them to Maya Bay, where they waited for a replacement boat to continue their journey to Phuket.

No injuries were reported, and authorities have not disclosed the nationalities of the rescued tourists.
