Muay Thai matches at funeral for deceased son’s

A funeral held in Thailand’s rural Chaiyaphum province yesterday made headlines in local media. On the day of the cremation, two pairs of Muay Thai fighters fought before the deceased’s body to honor the fact that Netthawan Suthammapiwat loved Muay Thai all his life.

At Nonsawang Temple, father Saman decided to hold the Muay Thai matches to celebrate his son’s favorite sport, and because the family owns a Muay Thai gym. Saman said his son always helped him manage the gym and was meant to take over the family business. Sadly, Netthawan died at 36 from a blood infection. Following a traditional three-day Buddhist funeral, cremation took place yesterday afternoon. The event drew hundreds of attendees who paid their respects to the deceased young man and appreciated the art of the Muay Thai matches. Coconuts Bangkok
